The Verdict:
While PC-based TV tuners are nothing new, Kaiser Baas has created a unique spin on the product with the addition of DAB+ digital radio.
To install, consumers simply plug the USB stick into their PC, attach the included antenna and load the software, that’s it. The device can now access all free-to-air TV, DAB+ and FM stations.
As for the TV software, you can watch and record live TV to a PCs HDD and also program shows via an EPG. It has a simple interface and is easy to use, but the only gripe is that the signal via the included antenna can be troublesome at times, but this can vary depending on your area.
When it comes to DAB+ the device is very strong. All stations can be accessed via a cool on-screen remote and you can even record live programming for later listening.
Overall for just under $70 the Digital Radio TVStick is an affordable option for a consumer wanting to get digital ready. It is easily cheaper than either a set top box or digital radio and gives you virtually the same functionality. Add some nice speakers for DAB+ or connect to a bigger display for TV and you have a compelling selling proposition.
