One of the biggest hurdles to face DAB+ digital radio adoption in Australia is the lack of in-car options in the market. Toyota is looking to change this with its new Camry Atara SL, which will include the technology as standard.
The top-of-the-line Camry combines digital radio with a 7-inch touchscreen display, 10-speaker JBL sound system, CD player, reversing camera, Bluetooth hands-free and music streaming.
Commercial Radio Australia CEO, Joan Warner said this was great news for the category.
“Toyota is one of Australia’s leading car manufacturers and the radio industry is delighted they have included digital radio in the Atara SL,” she said.
“Around 33 per cent of radio listening in Australia is in the car and we are thrilled Toyota Camry Atara SL drivers will now be able to experience digital quality sound, scrolling text with song information and a rage of new stations.”
