The New York Post has reported that Apple plans to release a subscription television service by Christmas 2012.

In a move that doesn’t sound surprising, the company apparently wants to treat TV channels like apps and allow consumers to purchase individual stations or groups of channels wherever they want.

This service is likely to be avalable on Aple TV and the rumoured iOS powered HDTV.
