Selby Acoustics is representing the Rocketfish accessories brand in Australia, an exclusive-branded product line manufactured by US retailer, Best Buy.
Rocketfish earbuds and headsets are being sold through Selby Acoustic online stores as well as from the company’s two retail outlets in country Victoria.
“We were looking for a brand like no other, offering value and quality,” Selby Acoustics CEO, Shaun O’Brien, told Tech Trader.
He said since the online business was set up in 2003 focus has been on offering high quality products that deliver outstanding value to customers.
“The Rocketfish brand gives us the opportunity to broaden our range of mobile accessories, starting with headphones, earbuds and licensed Apple iPod, iPhone and iPod connectors.”
Pricing is competitive, with Rocketfish earbuds selling at $16.99 retail and a PC headset with mic for $19.99 retail. O’Brien said mobile accessories and noise cancelling headphones will be added to the range in time for Christmas.
O’Brien is not deterred by recent closure of WOW Sight & Sound either, with plans to expand Selby Acoustic’s retail presence next year with store openings in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. However, he will stay away from big shopping centres that he said were “too expensive.”
Selby Acoustics specialises in home theatre accessories with over 3000 products available. O’Brien said the range will grow to 10,000 lines within the next 18 months.
He said until this year online sales had been growing at around 30 per cent a year.
Along with Rocketfish, the retail stores sell Sennheiser headsets, Krix speakers, Epson projectors and Samsung Blu-ray players.
