International GPS company Garmin last night unveiled its latest sportswatch offering to the adventurous – the Fenix. Incorporating worldwide base maps, as well as GPS, altimeter, barometer and compass, the watch is designed to offer detailed information on any outdoors activity.
Waterproof to 50 metres, the Fenix can store up to 1000 waypoints for outdoorsy people, which can be wirelessly shared between Fenix devices, which is a convenient way of telling fellow adventurers about key locations worth visiting.
In addition, the Fenix also doubles as a fitness watch, and can be paired with a heart rate monitor to track your performance running, trekking, kayaking or climbing.
“The Garmin fenix is an iconic product and it caters to the needs of adventure-loving Aussies,” said Trevor Berrange, managing director, Garmin Australasia. “Garmin has a strong culture of innovation and we’re proud to be constantly shaping exciting developments in the GPS category with landmark products like the fenix. Building on the features of devices in our fitness and outdoor categories, f?nix provides not only the strengths of an ABC wristwatch, but navigation and communication as well.”
The Fenix is set to launch in August for $449
